Watering. Again?

Water … Water … Water … and of course don’t forget … Water.
If this sounds like a broken record … well, yes, it is. But it's that important

More Bonsai die from lack of water than from any other form of neglect. Don’t be blamed for the demise of your Bonsai just because you neglected to water. Shame, shame, shame.

This time of the year we have longer days and higher temperatures which means that your Bonsai is in active growth. Along with this active growth is the fact that your Bonsai is requiring more water to grow.

So, w
hat should you be doing to help your Bonsai along?
1. Water. We water daily unless we have had a big rain. Even with rains in the nighttime and early morning…with these higher temperatures…your Bonsai can be dry by late afternoon. When our temperatures are reaching up into the low 100’s we will be watering twice daily. This may seem like a hard job, but just water before you go off to work and water again when you return home. Think of it as another way to enjoy your Bonsai and be with them…..a labor of love so to speak.
2. Fertilize. Remember that our Bonsai soils are extremely porous and therefore most fertilizers are leached out of your potting medium with your watering. Remember also that you should be watering until the water runs out of your bottom holes so that the salts in your water and the remainder of your fertilizer will be washed out of the soil to prevent buildup of these items which can cause a toxic environment to your Bonsai.

Just remember it's really easy. A lot easier than it sounds. The only requirement is that you enjoy the hobby!!!!!

Thanks for your feedback!

We thank you for your feedback. It does help us to help you because we do listen. If you ask us for something we try to find it in Japan for you. For example one of our customers asked for a wire holder for his Bonsai wire. We finally found it and will be bringing them into the USA in the next few months. Thank you for making us the Largest Bonsai Supply Store in the World.
