You Ready For the Fall? |
Well, it’s September
already!
What does that mean to you and your beloved Bonsai?
First and foremost the temperature
is moderating. This
makes for a wonderful time for us to enjoy our
great outdoors. It also means that your Bonsai
will feel a sigh of relief that finally they won’t
be so stressed from the high temperatures of summer.
Second our amount of light is diminishing more
and more each day foretelling the advent of many
things that will be changing in just a few weeks.
This really is a great time for your and your
Bonsai.
However, you need to start taking steps for the
next stage of our seasons.
You need to start using the 0-10-10 fertilizer
for all your outdoor Bonsai.
Shortly in some climes here in the USA we will
experience low temperatures and freezes. If
you have been using the normal fertilizer ratios
which usually include nitrogen then your Bonsai
may experience damage in the way of dead tips to
their branches with these close to freezing temperatures. This
happens because the nitrogen will encourage new
tender growth which is very susceptible to freeze
damage.
Please go to our fertilizer page to see the details
on the 0-10-10 fertilizer. http://www.dallasbonsai.com/store/fertilizers.html#362
Soon you may start to heat
your home. For your indoor Bonsai this can be
extremely stressful in that the humidity surrounding
your Bonsai will be extremely low. This stress comes from
the potting medium drying out very quickly. You
will then need to water more often. Your
Bonsai can experience brown tips on its leaves
because of the lack of water in the soil area and
the much lower humidity. To alleviate this
problem you may need to add a humidity tray with
nachi rocks. Please go to these pages for
more details.

be of great benefit is our sprayer.

you along with your hobby. Enjoy.
