Advice for October

The weather is moderating here in these great United States. Just a few days ago we hit the mark of equal day length and equal nights which means that most of our deciduous Bonsai will say to themselves that they need to put on a pretty face and show their Autumn colors.

If you haven’t gotten your 0-10-10 fertilizer into your Bonsai supply chest then by all means get it very soon, because your Bonsai does not normally react quickly to fertilization this time of year. You are trying to direct your Bonsai into a very happy, healthy dormancy during the winter. Even Evergreen Bonsai go into a state of suspended animation (of course not as openly expressed as deciduous Bonsai) during the winter months. It is important that you withhold Nitrogen from the fertilization regimen because any drops of temperature can easily kill or disfigure new, tender growth. O-10-10 fertilizer Click Here

If you haven’t gotten your humidity trays or drip trays then now’s a good time to check out our supply of sizes. These particular trays have small feet or nubs which keep the tray from touching the wood or other table surfaces to keep any water from damaging them. And….. again remember not to let water accumulate in the tray. You can drown your Bonsai if it sits in water. Humidity trays Click Here

New Article by Thomas J.

Thomas J. has again helped us to help you with an excellent Article on Juniper Bonsai. This is a great subject because most of us start with a Juniper and then branch out and out and out. Please check out this very informative article and bookmark it so you can read it over again and glean new insight into this wonderful hobby of ours. We do thank Thomas J. for helping all of us along the way to enjoying Bonsai.

Now what’s happening here at Dallas Bonsai Garden

We will send out a special email within the next few days announcing some new and great items that are coming from Japan. This is a teaser, a preview of coming attractions as it were, because we don’t have them in the warehouse just yet. We can’t reveal just what they are now because that would spoil the fun and the excitement of learning just what’s new from Japan in the way of Bonsai Stuff. There will be new tools and new supplies that you do need to add to your tool chest. Stay tuned…..

Sincerely,
