We think it's our job to remind you that a little bit of planning can certainly make life easier for you and your Bonsai later on this month and into November. We are just reminding you of items that you probably already know, but in the fast times in which we live you may have forgotten.
Your outside Bonsai. We need to start worrying about the temperatures going below 50° F. For most temperate climate Bonsai that's OK. Then we need to think about going below 40° F. This is when there can be leaf damage on the tropical types of Bonsai. Fukien Tea Trees start looking sad when the temperatures go below 50° F or so. When we start nearing 35°F then you need to start thinking about bringing some of your Bonsai in for the winter months or at least for those chilly days that might harm the foliage. With deciduous Bonsai (Bonsai losing their leaves in the winter months) this won't be a problem because they are probably already beginning to lose their leaves for the winter hibernation.
What to do with your Bonsai in the winter months. Well…here we will continue in next month's email…
We need to remind you of supplements that will help your Bonsai along during this period of stress.
Stress…How? Lower natural light and drier indoor air (because of your heating system). These two major elements can kill a Bonsai if you don't adjust your regimen of watering and additional artificial light indoors. Be extremely observant as we get into the winter months. We certainly don't want our Bonsai to suffer from our neglecting them…
We do have other Chemicals and Fertilizers in our Bonsai Supply Catalog that you should “thumb” through to get an ideal of some items that will really help you with your Bonsai this Winter season.
