| May we wish you and yours a very Happy Holiday! |
With our monthly emails we strive to give you
information that will assist you in the seasonal
tasks you need to be aware of.
This time of the
year is really no exception to the following two
principals for a Happy Bonsai:
Lots of Light,
Lots of water.
We have gone over these items
many times, but it’s imperative for you to
be aware of your Bonsais surroundings: Is it getting
enough light? (usually not this time of year). Is
it receiving enough water? (usually not, but
be very aware that you can over water too).
As the gift season
quickly approaches you need to think of all the
items you’ve put off
buying for yourself and your Bonsai (for various
reasons). This is really a good time to make a
list of these Bonsai items and make copies to hand
out to your friends and relatives. It's certainly
much better to get something you want than another
pink polka dotted tie or whatever that you’ll
put in the dresser drawer and never look at again.
Here is a starter list:
 |
1. Gift
Certificates These are
always a welcome gift for those who can’t
decide just what would make a “perfect” gift
item.
|
 |
2. Books You can never have enough books.
Three authors may say the same thing, but
how one says it will be more clear to you
than the others. It’s like having
cook books, some are more clear to
you than others in defining just what you
need to execute the job to perfection. |
 |
3. Tools This
is a great time to add to your collection.
Why? Well, Japanese tools have been developed
for just about every job that you will encounter
when working on your Bonsai. They are rightly
named, Special Tools for Special Tasks! May
I remind you that in Japanese tools we carry
only one grade of cutters. This is the professional
grade. Cutters are defined as concave cutters,
wire cutters and others. On Scissors/Shears
there are innumerable versions from the
$12.95 Shear up to $300.00 Shears. In Japanese
tools you do get what you pay for. The
differences shows up in the quality of
the blades and the finish. |
 |
4. Instructional
DVDs We have some excellent
editions that will help anyone in the hobby
to understand visually how to do the tasks
required to keep your Bonsai happy and healthy.
