He was also an accomplished bonsai potter and photographer. Dave's bonsai are shown at National and International exhibitions. 288 pages $19.95 Softback
There's no other bonsai book like it: this incredibly magnificent 288-page guide has been 30 years in the making, with beautiful natural specimens photographed over long periods of time. Dave Joyce devoted his life to growing, researching, and photographing natural bonsai: trees that bear no trace of man-made manipulation but appear to have developed naturally, untouched. His unequalled wisdom and artistry are showcased in this full-color volume packed with advice and breathtaking images of trees as they matured. Illustrated case histories displaying exquisite natural bonsai offer details on the preferences and requirements of various species. Every task and technique is explained: choosing a container, watering and feeding, dealing with pests and diseases, wiring, pruning, and more. See how to use garden-center stock, start from seed, collect from the wild, or take cuttings. Helpful tips are provided on bonsai photography and bonsai garden ideas.
Author's proceeds go to support research on cancer, the disease that claimed his life shortly after he completed this life-long project. 8 1/2 X 11. all in color

Special 176 - A Special Price on Inspected Seed Packs
$19.95
As these are agricultural items they must be inspected by the USDA prior to entering the USA. They open the packages and inspect the seeds for anything that might harm our Nation. We bring in literally thousands of packets and USDA will inspect about 10 packages of each seed to satisfy their requirements. There's nothing wrong with the opened seeds except the packages are opened and the pretty package is disfigured. As soon as we receive the opened seed packets we reseal them and refrigerate them. Normally these seed packets sell for $2.50 each if they haven't been disfigured. We are selling them at $1.95 each in this bundle of 10. We try to give you a wide assortment of what is available at the moment. The Japanese art of bonsai is practiced worldwide, but while basic techniques have been more or less effectively taught, many of the more intriguing ones, as well as recently invented ones, have not. The Secret Techniques of Bonsai remedies this oversight with the thoughtful instruction of second and third generation experts.
Secret Teachings is by the author of the groundbreaking Bonsai with American Trees, one of the first books to unveil the secrets of the trade. This time, Masakuni Kawasumi II teams up with his son, Masakuni III, to offer not only the basics for creating perfect bonsai but secret techniques he has developed over years of careful work and observation. Masakuni III, the first qualified tree doctor for bonsai in Japan, adds his unique insights. Between them they offer over eighty years of experience.
The techniques are simple and intuitive, yet have been developed only after decades of practice and perfection. Detailed information is provided to start, nurture, and shape bonsai. A number of secret techniques are introduced for beginners and experienced enthusiasts alike. The father-and-son team also delves into bonsai tool usage, another area of their expertise, giving the reader a clear sense of how to use specialized tools—or how to better use the garden and workshop tools they have at home.
