The knife is used today for that purpose, but additionally used to cut the roots and remove old soil from Bonsai during the root pruning process. A very heavy duty tool that has an overall length of 12½". The blade is 6¾" by 1 5/8" wide. It has a lacquered wooden handle and comes with a leatherette sheath and leatherette belt loop. The blade is concave and has one side that is saw toothed and the other side with a normal cutting edge. A very good utilitarian knife.
