Buddhist pine Bonsai

Podocarpus macrophyllus

The Yew Pine, or Podocarpus macrophyllus, may not be a traditional looking bonsai but it still enjoys ample popularity. The slow-growing native of Japan and China has a unique, elegant look that seems to induce peaceful feelings simply by laying eyes on it. While the foliage appears to be made up of needles, they are actually very narrow, leathery, flat leaves approximately two inches long. The trunk is a gorgeous cinnamon shade, and bears the gentle curvature so desirable in bonsai.

Formal and informal upright, slanting, and literati all make beautiful form choices for Buddhist Pine. This species is also attractive for its adaptability to being an indoor tree, provided it gets enough light. If you plan to keep your tree inside, consider adding a humidity tray to your order so that the foliage gets enough moisture. Bring a little zen into your life (don’t we all need more of that these days?) with this graceful bonsai.

Received today, very well packed. The pot was wrapped nicely to keep moisture in. There were no leaves or anything that had fallen off. I would recommend this tree.
