Trident Maple Bonsai Tree
While the common name of this tree may bring thoughts of minty fresh breath to your mind, there is a method to the naming madness. Acer buergerianum, a deciduous native of Japan, China, and Korea, is marked by unique three-pointed leaves (not to be confused with its sister tree, the Japanese Maple, whose leaves sport five points), hence the “tri” in trident. The bark is equally attractive, with textured brownish-gray peeling away to reveal a bright orange surface, over time the colors blending together in a less intense shade.
This hardy species is forgiving of beginner enthusiasts, and will even reward your efforts with an eye-popping autumn color show. It is relatively drought-tolerant (translation – it won’t die if you forget to water it now and again), and can withstand temperatures as low as 10-15° F. What’s more, the roots are perfect for exposed root or root-over-rock, adding to the long list of reasons you should bring this beauty into your collection.

- Fantastic Tree
Overall Rating Quality ValueThe trident maple came in incredible health. The packaging was done so well not a bit of soil or a leaf was out of place when it arrived. I have since ordered other trees and products from Dallas Bonsai due to their service and quality.
